Group - 8th - 17th August 2008 - This year's Annjual summer camp was held at Ramla Bay. Th Scouts met at the HQ at 4p.m. and where transported to the campsite. They settled in their tents and started constructing their gadgets. The following days where fully packed with activities such as constructing a raft and racing with it, A Lashing game which was really great fun doing. The scouts had also to cook their meals on wood. Another activity was constructing an obsatcle course for the other patrol and trying to do the best time while dodging the obstacles. The troop also did some of their badges, the Athlete badge, swimming badge, the swimming instructor badge, part of the camper badge and the fishing badge, it's a pity we didn't have enough ice for all the fish...:) The cubs section arrived at the camp on Tuesday 12th and remained there until the 15th when we had our get together. The pack also had a fully packed programme consisting of crafts, trying the Scout's obstacle course, doing their swimming badge and other activities. The get together, as said before was held on the 15th of August. Some sketches where put up by the scouts and cubs. Sadly we couldn't light the campfire because of the strong wind. The camping came to an end on Sunday morning as we returned to our HQ.

Ventures -31st July 2008 - The venture unit organized a shooting competition at the Bahar ic-caghaq shooting range. The members had fun trying to hit the clay pigeons and competing with one another.

Group - 16th May 2008 - This year's Mother's Day Concert was held on the 16th of May at the Domus Hall. The attandance was great (over 280) and we would like to thank all those who attanded. On the other hand the comitee would like to apologise with those who didn't manage to find a seat in time. be assured that next time this problem will be solved since most probably the show will be held on 2 days. This year's consisted of many different items. The Beavers held a song/mime.."Who let the dogs out". The Cub Section also made a mime/song - "Mary Poppins" and a play - "Min jikmanda ghawn?" The Female section also enatertained us with a Country medley. The Brownies put up a musical from the series "High School Musical", while the Guides and Rovers prepared a play - "Skola tal-hmir". The Scouts section also presented 2 plays - "Il-jakketta ta' l-gherf" and "Hal;lastu l-Kont?" And finally the Venture Unit put up a comedy "3 little pigs" which after all weren't so 'little'....Well done to every section and see you next time.

Group - 4th May 2008 - The National Annual Parade in occasion of the 100th Anniversary of scouting in Malta was held in Valletta on the 4th of May. Our group attanded the parade at it's best with over 120 members. The group took part in Mass at the Floriana Parish Church together with the other South District grops. After the mass the groups assambled on the Floriana Granaries from where Parade started. All groups marched around the Valletta streets entertaining all the tourists and people present at the City.

Cubs - 19th April 2008 -This year the activity organized for the Joe Galea Sheild was a Scavenger's Hunt in our beautiful capital city Valletta. All the groups met at the Upper Baracca Gardens were ten groups were made up from different localities.  Each Group had ten points to go to.  After solving a clue to show us were we had to go the boys had to answer specific questions on the place we went to.  It was very interesting and everybody learnt something new about our history.  When all the clues were solved and all answers given all the groups met again at the Upper Baracca Gardens where we assisted for the enactment by the Maltese Heritage Group of the firing of the cannon.  At the end the Grand Howl was performed and the activity came to end with the Cub Scout Promise.  Thanks to all who took part and prepared this activity everybody had fun!!!!!!!

Beavers - 12th April 2008 -Last Saturday 12th April the beaver colony had another outing.  This time the venue was at Ir-Razzett tal-Hbiberija where the boys could see various animals like monkeys, deers, rabbits, peacocks etc.  .  They had fun playing with the animals and even feeding them. They then went on a train ride and also on Go-Carts and enjoyed themselves in the playing field. After lunch it was time to go back home. 

Cubs - 31st March 2008 - On the 31st March we went to Valletta for a cultural walk in our beautiful capital city.  We started this walk from Fort St.Elmo and the War Museum.  We walked up near the Mediterranean Conference Center to the Memorial Bell and then to the Lower Barracca. Here we had a clear view of the other forts surrounding the Grand Harbour and the break water. We moved on to pass from St.Paul's Street to Merchant's street were we visited the refurbished old building of the Suq tal-Belt, then went to Republic square known before as Piazza Regina and the Biblioteka (public Library).  Our next stop was the Armoury and the State Rooms at Presidential Palace.  It was interesting to see and understand what happened during the Knights stay in Malta especially during the Great Siege and then to the state rooms were we visited rooms used also nowadays for Official Ceremonies by the Government.  We could also see were members of parliaments pass to enter the parliament which unfortunately was closed.  We then moved on to merchant street and passed in front of Palazzo Parisio now the Malta Post Office, Auberge d'Italie now the offices of the Ministry of Tourism and Auberge de Castille the Prime Minister's Offices.  We reached the Upper Barracca were after enjoying the wonderful view of the Harbour from this angle we had a small break.
We left these gardens and walked to the ruins of the Opera House passing in front of the church dedicated to our village patron saint,Saint Catherine of Alexandria.  It was time to go back home so after a treat of ice-cream for everybody we went for our coach.

Ventures - 28th March 2008 - 31st March 2008 - The expedition was held fot the unit and the troop. This year's route was from the Mizieb (Mellieha) to the Laferla Cross (Siggiewi), then towards San Lucian tower in Marsaxlokk and the day after just up the road to Zejtun. It was a tough and for some painfull journey but with courage and determination the members reached the HQ on Monday at 10.30 a.m. Surely an activity to remember. Well Done!!.

Beavers - 22nd March 2008 -On 22nd March the Beaver Colony went to Ta'Qali.  Here they visited two Glass Blowing Factories.  The Pheniceon Glass Blowers and the Valletta glass.  The boys were shown the interesting art of glass manufacturing from its origin.  The boys had a great time being shown how to blow up glass and also how many things can be made from vases, paper weights and even artistic shapes of animals and other objects.  From origin the glass is transparent and so in order to have various colours these have to be added in the form of powder at the first stage when a ball of very hot glass is taken from the oven to start the creation needed.  After this educational part the beavers hiked to the Ta' Qali National park for a picnic. The boys had fun playing until it was time to return home.  All tired and satisfied we went back home looking forward for the next activity.

Ventures - 29th February 2008 - 2nd March 2008 - The Venture Unit organised the computer weekend at the HQ in Zejtun. This year we had the biggest attendance ever where the Ventures together with some scouts competed on Football Manger in the Italian Serie A. An activity which was greatly appreciated and enjoyed by the members.

Group - 18th February 2008 - The Annual General Meeting was held in the Domus Hall. During this activity the attendance from the members together with their parents was of great satisfaction for the leaders. The annual reports and financial briefings where read and explained to the members. After the members where presented with trophies and certificates to award them for their commitment during the year.

Scouts - 3rd February 2008 - The Scouts went on a joint activity with the Birzebbugia troop. The hike started from Buskett and the first stop was at Ghar il-Kbir where the patrols cooked their meals on open fire. Some games where also played in order that the scouts could socialize better. After eating and clearing the area the scouts walked towards Siggiewi where the bus was waiting to take everybody home safe and sound...

Group - 13th January 2008 - The Juventutis Domus Feast dedicated to the Sacra Familia was held and as part of the celbrations the group took part in the mass at the Domsu chapel followed by a parade around the Zejtun streets.
